Fall and winter are my favorite time of year due to the many fun events happening. It all starts with Halloween, pumpkins and costumes. Thankfully, as a US resident, I get to stretch my pumpkin obsession all the way to Thanksgiving. Every year, I try to gather as many pumpkin / pumpkin spice products as I can. Some are old favorites, but it’s always exciting to see what new products are available.
Let’s start with a few favorites. You can find my thoughts on them here and here.
Here is a list of the products I bought, despite knowing them very well already:
- Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (duh!)
- Pumpkin Spice Oreos
- Pumpkin Spice Frosted Mini Wheats
- Sprouts Pumpkin Spice Instant Oatmeal
- Chobani Pumpkin Spice Blended Greek Yogurt
Now for the good stuff…here are the new products I tried this fall…
Birch Benders Pumpkin Spice Pancake Mix
I bought these last spring on clearance at Target and held on to it until this October. The pancakes were good, the pumpkin spice flavor was present, without being overwhelming. I’m not the biggest fan of pancakes, which is the only reason I didn’t eat all of it on my own.
Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars
These were a great afternoon snacks and subbed as a quick breakfast a couple of times. The spices were a great addition to the usually boring granola bar!
Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice Biscotti
In the last year, I’ve finely learned to enjoy tea. What goes perfectly with a nice cup of tea? A biscotti, of course! The pumpkin spice flavor was nice, but my favorite part was a bottom layer of white chocolate that would inevitably melt into my tea.
Pumpkin Pie Kit Kat
Let’s just say I went through the bag very quickly. It was an odd change from the original Kit Kat but the cinnamon flavor coming through got me every time.
Pumpkin Spice Belvita Breakfast Biscuits
I loved these so much, I considered buying a second box. My husband introduced my the Belvita breakfast biscuits a few years ago and the pumpkin spice ones are just perfect. Awesome breakfast/snack on the go and delicious flavor!
Halo Top Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream
If you aren’t familiar with Halo Top, it is ice cream that has a low calorie count (compared to regular ice cream). I’ve tried other flavors I enjoyed before but this one might be in my top 3. It tasted just like pumpkin pie…and I don’t even like pumpkin pie that much! I really loved it and plan to have it a few more times before Thanksgiving.
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s
I never tried regular Joe-Joe’s before so I had no expectations then the fact that they looked a bit like Oreos. These turned out to be really addictive. The pumpkin flavor is much more subtle (and less chemical feeling) than Oreos, and the creamy middle is much thicker. A tasty find!
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Cold Beverage
This cold, grocery store version of the PSL was very close to the original. It did make me realize that the warmth and the whipped cream – with sprinkled cinnamon on top- was a big part of the PSL experience.
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios & Pumpkin Spice Mallows
I bought these items with the idea of making pumpkin-spice Rice Krispie treats. I figured I would replace the Rice Krispies with Cheerios…My husband told me it sounded terrible but I was determined to try it out. Well…he was right. It was way too hard to chew…although the flavor was great. The mallows on their own were pretty bad. The Cheerios were super tasty and, if I ate cereal for breakfast, I’d consider adding them to my fall breakfast rotation.
On top of the many pumpkin spice items, I also tried a few fall-themed food. The apple pie Oreos were…interesting. I liked them once I dipped them in milk. And the Cadbury Harvest Mix? Well, just another excuse to eat more Cadbury mini eggs, my all-time favorite treat! 🙂
This year, we took the pumpkin madness one step further as we made a pumpkin pizza. We used pumpkin puree with added pumpkin spice for the sauce, pumpkin seeds and prosciutto for the toppings. It was so very good. As for the green crust? This will be explain in an upcoming post! 🙂
What’s your favorite pumpkin spice product or otherwise fall-themed product?
