Challenges, Trying New Food

Foodie Pen Pal Reveal: August Edition! (And 1 year anniversary!)

Oh boy, you have no idea how happy I was to get back on the Foodie Pen Pal wagon after taking a month off! I missed putting a package together and (I admit it) receiving goodies! This month, it has also been one year since I joined the program. 12 awesome matches later, I’m ready to keep the exchanges coming.

So about the goodies now… I sent my package to Clara @ Southern Thintellect. She is a self proclaimed Hoosier native turned Southerner and this was her first time participating in the program. You can check out what I sent her right here.

I received my package from Crystal who lives in Maryland. She is currently working towards a degree in nutrition and this definitely came through in her awesome package. Here’s a look…

The goodies: Homemade chocolate pretzel popcorn, quinoa cereal, Justin’s honey peanut butter, chocolate and peanut butter chia bar, banana bread flax bar and Justin’s dark chocolate and peanut butter cups.

As I came back from a busy day at work, I couldn’t have been happier to find the package in my mailbox! After checking everything out, I immediately devoured the chia bar. It was really good!

I had never seen quinoa cereal before but it’s such a neat idea! Not only is it a super fast breakfast, it also contains so much nutritional value! I might have to look into getting more of them for the future…

Although it wasn’t photographed, I ate all the popcorn before Parent Orientation last week, doing my best not to get chocolate on my dress before meeting my new group of parents. It was so sweet and salty and perfect! I’m considering exploring this snack as an item in our Christmas baskets…we’ll see… 🙂 The peanut butter cups had melted on their way here but it didn’t stop me from scrapping all the goodness off of the package once it had set back. I love that stuff! The flax bar was such an interesting texture and I really liked it. Crystal’s treats really encouraged me to look for healthy snacks on the go. I’ll have to go explore the grocery stores now in search of similar options. The only thing I have left to try is the peanut butter pouch. I’ve received them many times throughout my year of exchange but somehow, I tend to get new flavors each time. I can’t wait to try this one! 🙂

Thanks you so much for the delicious goodies, Crystal!
